Langkawi is a cluster of 104 islands sprinkled across the Andaman Sea. Only four of the islands are inhabited with Langkawi island the most populated. The other islands with inhabitants are Pulau Tuba, Pulau Singa, Pulau Dayang Bunting. These islands have developed their own support tourism activities.
The infrastructure and tourism promotion here are being further developed to provide diverse business and employment opportunities for locals, and more varied tourism activities for visitors. |
Climate
Langkawi has a sunny, equatorial climate all year round with an annual temperature of 25 - 32 degrees Celsius. There are no monsoon season in the island with theĀ highest level of rainfall from October to November, with occasional showers from April to September.
Language
Malaysia's official language is Bahasa Malaysia (Malay); however, English is widely spoken everywhere, including on the island.
Currency
Malaysia's currency is called the Ringgit (RM), issued in denominations of RM100, RM50, RM20, RM5 and RM1. The coins are called "sen" (cents) and are in denominations of 50 sen, 20 sen, 10 sen, 5 sen and 1 sen. |
