If
any party in the marriage is a divorced person,
he/she must produce the original legal separation
certificate, For a single person, a legal single
status declaration ( meaning, a single and legally
certified document issued by the government office
in charge of producing such documents ). The couple
and witnesses ( above 21 years ) must appear in
formal attire ( no t-shirts, sleeveless shirts.
Shorts, jeans or open-toed sandals ) at all the
above venues.
The
Marriage Registration is performed by the Registrar
in his office with at least 2 witnesses ( our
hotel staff may be your witnesses ). This is a
very formal affair and is legally recognized worldwide.
In contrast, the Wedding Ceremony following the
Registration that is solemnised by a celebrant
/pastor with your guests at our resort is less
formal.
The
choice of having a pastor or a celebrant ( without
religious rites ) can be arranged to perform a
symbolic solemnisation of your marriage.
To
help us guide you through the procedures, kindly
furnish us with the current residence and the
country of origin of the bride and the bridegroom.
The
Legalities…
Early
Arrival:
Should you decide to register your marriage in
Langkawi, you and your partner will need to arrive
in Langkawi at least 4 working days before the
actual ceremony to call at the Registrar’s
Office, Commissioner of Oaths and the District Officer’s Office in Kuah.
We willl provide a guide and transport to escort
you both to the above locations as the authorities
will not be able to come to the resort ( except
for the pastor or the celebrant). The guide services,
return land transfers, Marriage Certificates and
the other government fees involved are chargeable.
Visits
to the Commissioner of Oath and the District Officer
for Swearing-In and Marriage Licensing respectively
must be completed at least 4 working days prior
to the visit to the Registrar’s Office for
the Wedding Registration. Unlike the other states
in Malaysia, Langkawi’s weekend are on Thursdays
and Fridays when Government Offices are usually
closed . Hence these special arrangements can
only be performed during working days on the island.
